I am a huge fan of Nicole Snow and her Accidental books. When I saw a chance to read this new one, I jumped at it. I love the way her characters are complex and fun. Tory and Quinn were summer friends in the past that always were fond of each other but never moved beyond the friend zone. When Tory ends up back at her Ganny’s place (and what a hoot Ganny is!!) she ends up seeing Quinn again and wanting to be more that friends. However, she has a career in Chicago, and Quinn has a dangerous job that has followed him to their small town.  Can they make things work and finally be together? I really liked the concept of this book and the Anastasia twist. Great idea and very imaginative. I was a little confused at time of where it was going but I kept reading because it kept my interest and I wanted to know how it turned out. Give it a try!!

Wow this has been such a fun series to read. Each author has taken their own spin on a fairy tale. I’m not familiar with Mulan but that was the basis for Zhanzhi. The author did a great job in building her world with intriguing characters and lots of adventure. Great job!

I really enjoyed this book but then I am a big fan of mafia romances. This one is a take off of the beauty and the beast fairy tale with a little bit of Romeo and Juliet thrown in. There were a lot of twists and turns and I really liked the main characters. It is my kind of fairy tale! great job!

Prologue –

Somewhere in Chicago…

The chains chafed my wrists, making me wish I were still in my cage. Though it lacked privacy, the cage at least had a bed, and in there I wasn’t restrained with my arms above my head. But I was in Domenico’s domain. The small bedroom-like area was created from a previous office. There was a lamp and a mattress with a blanket, but those were the only creature comforts. The rest of the room retained both the look and smell of the rest of the decaying structure.
With no way to tell time, I wasn’t sure how long I’d been there. All I knew was that I was tired. Being held against my will caused spikes in my adrenaline, and the subsequent crashes left me drained. The small panic attacks had lessened over the past few weeks, but there was an undercurrent of strife, and I feared what would happen if things got out of control.
