NOT QUITE FOREVER
The Not Quite Series, Book Four
Montlake Romance, Contemporary
November 04, 2014, First Edition
Paperback & Kindle
The touching and heartwarming fourth novel in the wildly popular Not Quite series from New York Times bestselling author Catherine Bybee.
Romance author Dakota Laurens believes that happily-ever-afters exist only between the covers of her sexy novels. But to her surprise, she finds a real-life hero when she meets a handsome emergency room doctor. The outspoken author feels an instant and intense attraction to Dr. Walt Eddy, and the feeling is mutual. When the globetrotting doctor pulls a disappearing act on Dakota, she’s prepared to write him off…until fate brings a blindsiding twist to her story.
Still scarred from a past tragedy, Walt may have disappeared on Dakota, but now he’s determined to win her back. For the first time in years, he knows he’s ready for a new chance at love. Yet between Dakota’s doubts and two sets of meddling parents, can the once-blissful couple finally create the bright, loving future they desperately want?
My review:
A couple months ago I attended a romance novel convention. There was a medical device conference, full of salesmen, at the same hotel showing off their wares to some local physicians. My friend and I had to walk through their area to get to the saints and sinners dance that was going on. We raised a few eyebrows of the suit and tie crowd as we wandered through in our scandalous costumes. I had to chuckle when I started to read Not quite forever and found that it started in a similar way.
While at different conventions, Dr Walt is booked for the very same conference room as romance novelist Dakota Laurens. It is attraction at first site and returning to their home state they begin dating. Things are going great until the doctor, in a profession where you can’t get emotional involved, is afraid of caring too much for Dakota. After writing happily ever afters for years, Dakota wants her own knight in shining armor. Unfortunately, Walter’s cold feet has her determined to write him off for good.
However, real life doesn’t always go as planned. An unplanned medical condition, and a medical emergency, has them thrown back together again. Can Dakota have a ‘Happily ever after’ all, after all? Read Not Quite Forever and find out.
I love all of Catherine’s stories. What I like about this story, in addition to the love story, is the great secondary characters. Both Walt and Dakota’s families play a vital part in the story and the family dynamic is great to watch. It’s another great addition to the Not Quite series.
