Today I am welcoming the talented Genevieve Scholl to my blog.
Hello Genevieve tell me how you got started in writing. –
Well, anyone who knows me, knows that I was bullied when I was in High School. I started to write to get my feelings about it out on paper. I started out killing the bullies, but eventually I got to more subtle revenge. After a while, I realized how much I loved to create stories. Although, if truth me told, my mom still has those cute little stories I wrote as a kid about turtles and bunnies.
I think we can all relate to being bullied. I love to hear when a negative experience is turned into something positive. So what kind of books do you write and where do most of your ideas come from? –
I mostly write romance, but I dabble in other genres too. My ideas come from everywhere; dreams, ideas that pop into my head, TV shows, quotes, occurrences in my life, etc. It doesn’t matter where they come from, it matters that they come; I feel blessed to have the gift to hear my muse when she speaks to me.
That’s great! I have a hard time deciding on names for my characters, how do you decide what to name them? –
Names are definitely a very difficult part. In the beginning, I just used the names I knew, but eventually I learned how to find names that meant something to the story or the characters. It’s still difficult, but it gets easier with each story. I’ve also been known to ask my fans to help me name a character, but that’s only when I’m really desperate lol
I like that idea. Are you a plotter or panster? –
I’m sort of both. I started about just being a panster, but I realized that I forget some things by the end of the story and sort of leave it unfinished. So, now I plot out the stuff I’m sure of and fill in the blanks– Though, that makes it sound a lot easier than it actually is.
What is your favorite and least favorite thing about writing and being an author? –
Favorite: Creating the stories that people love to read. Least Favorite: Promoting- I know it’s necessary, but when you’re self-published, it’s difficult.
Who are your favorite authors? –
Wow, that’s a long list, but my top 3 would be Darynda Jones, Christy Parks, and Lora Leigh. Not to mention, I’d really like to read something of yours one of these days!” 🙂
Thanks for including me in your list. I will have a book out soon. Tell us about your latest book and/or future projects. –
The book I have out now, is called Love Claus. It’s a Christmas story about Santa’s son, Trent. It’s basically a romance about the magic of the north pole… Of course, it is also part of the Naughty North Pole Novels so it’s not a sweet romance lol
I love holiday stories, I can’t wait to read it. One last question for you Genevieve – I write cougar stories so I always ask people the same question – who is the younger man you would most like to go on a date with if you could? –
Hmmm, well since I’m only 25 that’s not an easy answer… However, I will reveal that I have a huge crush on Roshon Fegan from the Disney Channel show Shake It Up lol
I remember seeing him on the Dances with the Stars. Great pick!! Thanks so much for joining us Genevieve!
